About

Hello!

Teacher. Storyteller. Literacy Builder.

For 25 years, I home educated my daughters, preparing them for tertiary education. I'm a trained early childhood teacher and VET Hospitality teacher. That mix gave me a front-row seat to how differently kids learn depending on their age, interests, and stage of life, and how much a child's confidence in reading and writing shapes everything else they do.

That's why I started Forge Literacy. I work with two groups: young readers and writers building their foundation, and older students who've fallen behind and need a way back in that doesn't feel awkward.

Every student works toward something real, a storybook, a podcast script, a resume, a comparison of things they actually care about. No worksheets for their own sake. Just work that's theirs.

How It Works

Young readers and writers build strong foundations from the start through phonics, storytelling, and hands-on literacy skills.

Older students who've fallen behind get a fresh, judgment-free way back into reading and writing, built around their interests, not worksheets.

Sessions are one-on-one and based in the Newcastle region. Every student walks away with something real to show for their work, whether that's a storybook, a script, or a finished piece they're proud of.

I believe strong foundations build limitless futures. Real-life projects. Real-life outcomes.

I hold a current Working With Children Check and I'm NESA accredited.

My qualifications are in education, professional writing and publishing, phonics, and TESOL. I'm also trained in hospitality and hold a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

I've written and published a number of resource books for developing countries, children's picture books, and cookbooks, and I'm currently writing a book about building strong communities.

I also ran a foodie business for 8 years and loved it. Mediterranean food is my thing and my heritage, so creating foodie retreats, workshops, and even a food tour to Greece was amazing.

As you can see, I come with a wealth of experience and a real passion to see your children succeed, and it all begins with the foundations of literacy.
